About Me Hello, My name is Aimee. I am the 'hoomom' behind 'Old Garden House Rabbitry'. Since I was young I have grown up with animals and am currently studying to become an animal behaviourist. Animals have always been my true passion & a reliable shoulder to cry on when needed most. I absolutely love genetics; I find it all so interesting. So it has encouraged me to research & get a good base knowledge on bunny genetics. In the future, I would absolutely love to have an Australian Shepherd (My favourite dog breed) - a factor to choosing Vienna marked mini lops as they most closely resembled the Australian Shepherd's stunning eyes. Mini lops are an adorable, small lop breed (Ranging around 2.5lbs-4.5lbs) which are known for their friendly natures (on average). I have fallen completely in love with the breed.
What Makes Us Different to Other Breeders? I breed primarily for temperament, as to me this is the most important aspect of a pet bunny. Babies born here are handled from birth, meaning they are raised to be tame, social, friendly pets. I have a long term aim to improve the 'type' of my bunnies too. All my bunnies are extremely well-loved and spoilt- and are treated as part of the family, they are not 'breeding machines'. My girls only have a couple of litters a year and love every minute of it, some even pine for more babies! Each bunny has ample daily exercise and of course, gets constant cuddles & fuss! I want to be a breeder that people looking for bunnies can rely on. As my motto says: HAPPY, HEALTHY & FRIENDLY. My babies are also socialised with my two gentle dogs & are brought inside my home daily for cuddles and playtime so are used to household noises. Bunnies here are all given the best possible start in life; every litter goes through extensive socialisation, including vacuum habitation, handling and litter training. I aim to direct my bunnies to loving indoor pet homes looking for a 10year+ member of the family, as I prepare my bunnies primarily to be house bunnies. Each baby will leave me with a large ‘Baby Bundle’ to equip you with information to help your bunny settle, also including changeover food, birth certificate, care guide, toys, a pedigree and more! With every baby that leaves me I offer a lifetime of advice and support- I am always happy to help. Why I started breeding? After my beautiful bun Fudge died at nearly 7 years old, I needed to heal & wait for the right time before welcoming a new bunny into my life. I began to look on 'Pets4homes' for my new furry friend & I was upset to see so many bunnies is awful conditions. This really got me thinking... I wondered if I could be that reliable, reputable breeder I was searching for; I knew that if I was to do this, I would do it right. I have always struggled with my health however in 2018, I decided that I needed some time off to recover and work on myself. Bunnies have really helped me heal and gave me the focus I have needed (and still do) to recover. I had researched for a solid 2 years before I was in a position in my life that I had enough time and resources to dedicate to breeding bunnies- I can't thank my family enough for their love and support to help me achieve's my dream. In 2018, the 16x10 foot bunny shed, was installed- complete with 5ft x 2ft hutches, heating, vinyl floors, insulation, air con and a 10x3 foot acrylic bespoke run furnished with Manor Pet Housing Castles! Then in 2019, a further 10x10 foot shed extension was built to house 4, 8 foot hutches for my boys- making my bunny haven an impressive 26 x 10 feet. I absolutely love my bunny shed and just spending time with my beautiful babies. Please see my "Our Girls" & "Our Boys" tabs to get to know each one of my babies- they are all so special in their own way! Breeding is not always easy, but I wouldn't have it any other way- it is all worth it seeing updates of happy babies in forever homes♡
